Sapa is a picturesque town situated in the northern mountains of Vietnam, near the border with China. It lies in Lao Cai Province, approximately 320 kilometers (200 miles) northwest of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam.
The town is nestled in the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range, home to Fansipan, the tallest peak in Indochina at 3,147 meters (10,326 feet) above sea level. Sapaβs elevation of around 1,500 meters (4,921 feet) contributes to its cool climate and breathtaking landscapes, which attract travelers from around the world.

Traveling by train takes about 8-9 hours and the train only stops in Lao Cai, the province which Sapa belongs to. It then takes another hour to get to Sapa from Lao Cai station by minivan.

Traveling by bus is both fast and it goes directly to Sapa town without stopping in Lao Cai as by train. If you take a private car ride, you can even reach Sapa in 5 hours.

This way is fastest way and more private space.
The best time to visit is from April to September. Although, each season has its own special qualities and surprises.
During this period the temperature is ranging from 15 β 25 Degree Celsius, it is not a rainy season in Sapa so the trekking routes are dry and bear great opportunity to do longer treks and to conquer Mt Fansipan.
