Overview

King Express Train — also marketed as King Sapa Train — runs wood-paneled sleeper carriages on the nightly Hanoi – Lao Cai (Sapa) route — daily departures, around 8 hours overnight. Cabins come in two classes: Suite with 4 berths for families and small groups, and VIP with 1–2 berths for couples who want privacy.

All cabins are air-conditioned with soft berths, blankets, complimentary drinks and light snacks. The carriages keep King’s signature yellow interior, and the crew works to the operator’s motto: “Serving you as serving the King and Queen on board.” We confirm every booking directly with the operator and send your e-ticket by email.

Schedule & Departures

The train ends at Lao Cai station — Sapa is a 50–60 minute road leg further: train-matched vans run $5 a seat, a private 7- or 9-seat car $30 per vehicle. Add the transfer when booking and we line it up with your arrival. One quirk worth knowing: the 12:05 from Lao Cai is a daytime train — you trade the sleep for Red River valley views the night runs never show you.
