Browse our tours and transport, pick your date and number of passengers on the product page, then click Book Now. Fill in your details, complete payment, and you will receive an instant confirmation email. The whole process takes about 2 minutes. If you prefer to book by message, WhatsApp us at +84 964 900 120 with your dates and we will send a payment link.
How do I know my booking is confirmed?
You receive two emails: (1) an auto-confirmation within 5 minutes of payment, and (2) a personal confirmation from our team within 30 minutes (during support hours) confirming the operator has accepted your booking. Your e-ticket arrives the same day. For full details on what happens after you book, see our booking confirmation page.
Can I book for someone else (family, friend, colleague)?
Yes. Enter the traveller’s name and contact details in the booking form, and your own contact details as the booker. You can pay with any of our payment methods. Note: if you pay by credit card, the card name does not need to match the traveller — but the traveller will need to show ID matching the booking name at pickup.
Can I book at the last minute, or do I need to book in advance?
Last-minute bookings are possible — we accept bookings up to 2 hours before departure for most bus routes, depending on availability. However, for popular routes (Friday evenings, weekends, Vietnamese holidays, Tết) we recommend booking at least 2 – 3 days ahead. Train tickets must be booked at least 7 days ahead due to rail operator schedules.
What information do you need from me when I book?
For a bus or tour booking: full name (as on ID), phone number for WhatsApp coordination, email for tickets, travel date, and number of passengers. For a train booking, we also need your passport number — Vietnamese rail operators require this by law to issue tickets. We only use it for ticket issuance and do not store an image of your passport. See our privacy policy for details.
Do I need to print my ticket?
No. All our tickets are fully digital — you receive them via email and WhatsApp. Just show the e-ticket on your phone at the meeting point. The driver, guide, or office staff has your booking on their end too, so even if your phone runs out of battery, our team coordinates the handoff.

Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept 3 secure payment methods: (1) Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, UnionPay) via OnePay, (2) Local Asia payments via Tazapay (QRIS for Indonesia, PayNow for Singapore, PromptPay for Thailand, GCash for Philippines, FPX for Malaysia, plus regional bank transfer), and (3) PayPal (including PayPal Pay Later where available). See our full payment guide for details.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. All payments use bank-grade security via trusted processors (OnePay, Tazapay, PayPal). Your card details are never stored on Sapa Nomad’s servers — they pass directly from your device to the payment gateway, encrypted end-to-end. We only receive a transaction confirmation, not your card number, CVV, or PIN.
What currency can I pay in?
Prices on Sapa Nomad are displayed in USD. When you pay, your card or PayPal account is charged in your local currency at the day’s exchange rate (set by your bank or PayPal, not by us). Local Asia payments via Tazapay are charged in your local currency directly (IDR, SGD, THB, PHP, MYR) with no foreign-exchange fee.
When does my card actually get charged?
Your card is charged immediately when you complete checkout — this secures your booking with the operator. If we cannot fulfil the booking for any reason (operator full, unexpected issue), we issue a full refund within 7 business days at no cost to you.
Can I pay in cash at your Sapa office?
Yes, for in-person bookings made at our office (4th Floor, 536 Điện Biên Phủ Street, Sa Pa town) we accept cash in VND or USD. For online bookings, payment is required to confirm — but you can stop by the office to add a tour or service to an existing booking with cash on the spot.
For most bus and limousine bookings: free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure (minus USD 3 handling fee). Train tickets are stricter (operator-dependent, free only at 30+ days). Tours: free up to 48 hours before. See our cancellation policy page for full schedules including holiday rules and force majeure.
Can I change my travel date instead of cancelling?
Yes — date changes are free of charge for bus and limousine bookings if requested at least 24 hours ahead (48 hours for tours). For train tickets, date changes depend on the rail operator and may incur a re-issuance fee. Whatever the operator’s rules say, our team will always look for the lowest-fee option for you.
What if my bus or train is cancelled because of weather or road closures?
You get a full refund with no handling fee, or we arrange alternative transport on the next available service — your choice. Sapa weather (fog, storms, landslides) is real and unpredictable, and you shouldn’t be charged for that. See the force majeure section of our cancellation policy.

Best Time to Visit Sapa
When is the best time to visit Sapa?
There is no single “best” — it depends what you want. March – May is dry, blooming, comfortable (15 – 25°C). June – August is the green-rice season but with afternoon rain. September – October is golden rice harvest (most photogenic — also our busiest season). November – February is dry and cold (5 – 15°C), with occasional fog and snow — clear mountain views on good days. For more detail, see our Sapa travel guide.
Is Sapa worth visiting in the rainy / monsoon season (June – August)?
Yes — but pack accordingly. Mornings are usually clear and beautiful; afternoon showers are brief and bring out the lush green of the rice terraces. We just recommend planning trekking and outdoor tours for morning slots. Most tour operators are flexible about rescheduling within the day if a heavy shower comes through.
When is the rice terrace harvest in Sapa?
The peak golden rice harvest is mid-September to early October. This is the most iconic Sapa view — fields glow gold across the entire valley. It is also our busiest period — book accommodation and tours at least 3 – 4 weeks ahead. The earlier green rice season is May to early August, also stunning, less crowded, and easier to book last-minute.
Does it snow in Sapa? When?
Yes — Sapa is one of the few places in Vietnam that gets snow, usually 1 – 2 days per year in late January or February when a strong cold front hits. It is rarely a heavy snowfall, more often a light dusting. Many Vietnamese tourists visit specifically hoping to see snow, so book ahead if you want to chase a snowfall.
How long should I stay in Sapa?
Minimum 2 nights / 3 days for a meaningful visit (Sapa town + one trekking day to a Hmong village + Fansipan cable car or one cultural visit). Most travellers spend 3 – 4 nights for a proper experience (multi-day trekking, homestay overnight, Mường Hoa Valley exploration). One-night trips are possible but very rushed — you basically just see the town.

Getting from Hanoi to Sapa
What’s the best way to get from Hanoi to Sapa?
The fastest, most comfortable option is a cabin sleeper bus (5 – 6 hours, private lie-flat cabin, USD 20 – 35). The most scenic but slowest is the overnight train (8 hours plus 30-min transfer from Lào Cai station). Private cars work for groups (5 – 6 hours, USD 150 – 200 per car). Our complete transport guide compares all options in detail.
How long does it take to get to Sapa from Hanoi?
By bus or private car: 5 – 6 hours direct via expressway. By train: 8 hours overnight to Lào Cai station, plus a 30 – 45 minute road transfer up to Sapa town (taxi or shuttle). There are no commercial flights to Sapa — the nearest airport is Hanoi (Nội Bài), then onward by road.
Bus vs Train — which is better?
Most travellers today choose the cabin sleeper bus — faster (5 – 6h vs 8h), more comfortable (private cabin vs shared train cabin), often cheaper, and drops you in Sapa town directly. Trains are better if you specifically want the overnight nostalgia, are travelling with a group of 4 (can book a private 4-berth cabin), or want to stop in Lào Cai city. See our side-by-side comparison in the transport guide.
What is a “cabin bus” or “sleeper bus”?
A cabin sleeper bus has individual private cabins (each cabin = 1 lie-flat bed with a door, window, blanket, USB charger, and small storage). Different from a “seated” bus (regular seats) or “open sleeper” (rows of bunk beds without doors). Sapa Nomad only sells cabin bus tickets — we don’t sell regular seats or open sleepers because they’re a worse experience.
Where do buses pick me up in Hanoi?
Pickup points vary by operator but most have a shuttle from the Old Quarter (centre of Hanoi tourist area) to their main departure terminal at My Dinh or Nuoc Ngam — included in your ticket. We send you the exact pickup time and shuttle meeting point 24 hours before departure via WhatsApp and email. Some operators also pick up directly from your hotel for an extra fee.
Can I get to Sapa directly from Hanoi airport (Nội Bài)?
Most buses and trains depart from central Hanoi, not the airport. From Nội Bài, you have two options: (1) Take a taxi to the Old Quarter (45 min, ~USD 15) and join the bus from there, or (2) Book a private car directly from the airport — convenient for groups arriving on late flights, about 6 hours airport-to-Sapa. WhatsApp us your flight details and we will arrange it.

Tours & Activities
What tours do you offer in Sapa?
We offer trekking tours (half-day, full-day, multi-day with homestay), cultural tours (Hmong, Dao, Tay villages), Fansipan cable car packages, motorbike day tours to Tả Phìn / Mường Hoa Valley, and private customised tours. Browse all Sapa tours or message us for a tailored plan.
Can I customise a tour for my group?
Absolutely — customised tours are one of our specialities. Tell us your dates, interests (trekking difficulty, photography, culture, food), group size, and any special needs. WhatsApp +84 964 900 120 or email [email protected]. We build the itinerary, give you a quote, and adjust until it fits your trip exactly.
Are tours suitable for kids, elderly, or people with limited mobility?
Yes — we have options for all fitness levels. Kids: Cable car, village visits, and short cultural walks work well from age 5+. Multi-day treks suit kids 10+. Elderly or limited mobility: cable-car day trips, village drives, and food tours are great. We avoid steep mountain trekking. Tell us your group’s needs when booking and we will match the right tour.
What’s included in tour prices?
Standard inclusions: English-speaking local guide, all transport during the tour, entrance fees, and meals stated in the itinerary (most tours include lunch). Not included by default: accommodation (unless explicitly a multi-day tour with homestay), personal expenses, tips, travel insurance, and alcohol with meals. Every tour page lists exact inclusions/exclusions.
What if it rains during my tour? Will it be cancelled?
Sapa rain is usually short showers, not all-day storms. We do not cancel tours for rain alone — guides bring ponchos, adjust the route, and most treks are still beautiful in light rain. For severe weather (storms, landslides, road closures), see our force majeure policy — you get a full refund or rescheduled tour at no cost.
What about children’s pricing for tours?
Children’s pricing varies by tour. As a guideline: age 0 – 4 usually free (lap child); age 5 – 9 typically 50 – 70% of adult price; age 10+ charged as adult. For overnight homestay tours where the child takes a separate bed, full price may apply. Exact child pricing is shown on each tour page — message us if it isn’t clear.

Practical Travel Info
Do I need a visa for Vietnam?
Most travellers need a visa or e-visa. Vietnam offers a 30-day e-visa online for most nationalities (USD 25, takes 3 working days). Several countries have visa-free entry for short stays (UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, South Korea, etc.). Always check the latest rules on the official Vietnam e-visa website — rules change occasionally.
Should I get travel insurance?
Yes — we strongly recommend it, especially for trekking tours or train bookings (which have stricter operator cancellation terms). Good travel insurance covers cancellation, medical emergencies, lost luggage, and trip interruption. Popular options for travellers in Vietnam include SafetyWing, World Nomads, and Allianz Travel. Get it before you leave home.
What should I pack for Sapa?
Layers — Sapa weather swings 10°C between morning and afternoon. Waterproof jacket, even in dry season. Walking shoes or trekking sandals (no high heels — Sapa’s hills are real). Warm layer for evenings, plus a beanie and gloves for November – February. Sunscreen and a hat for sun protection at altitude. A small daypack for trekking. Most homestays provide blankets and warm bedding.
Is the tap water safe to drink in Sapa?
No — do not drink tap water in Sapa or anywhere in Vietnam. Stick to bottled water, available everywhere for VND 5,000 – 15,000 per bottle. Most hotels and homestays provide a kettle so you can boil water for tea. Ice in established restaurants is typically made from filtered water and is safe, but skip ice in very rustic village settings.
Where can I exchange money or use ATMs in Sapa?
Sapa town has several ATMs (Vietcombank, BIDV, Agribank) that accept international cards (Visa, Mastercard, sometimes UnionPay). Daily withdrawal limit is typically VND 3 – 5 million per transaction. For cash exchange, gold shops on Cầu Mây Street give better rates than banks. Bring some USD or VND for villages where cards aren’t accepted. Larger restaurants and hotels accept cards.
