Overview

Family Express does what the name says: sleeper carriages set up for families on the nightly SP7 train. A family of four can book a whole 4-berth cabin for $180, with dual heating-and-cooling air conditioning for winter runs and big picture windows. Couples get the same comforts in a private VIP twin at $175, about $87.50 a person.

The train leaves Hanoi (120 Le Duan) at 22:40 and reaches Lao Cai at 06:25; Sapa is an hour more by road, bookable in the form. The return runs as a midday train at 12:05, so you ride down the valley in daylight.

Family of four, book all four Deluxe berths — the cabin becomes your private room for $180. Couples: the VIP twin at $175 is $87.50 each. Solo: a $45 Deluxe berth shares with up to three others.

Schedule & Departures

Be at the station about 45 minutes early to collect tickets. From Lao Cai it is a 35 km road transfer to Sapa, about an hour — add it in the booking form or arrange your own.
