Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

G8 Sapa Open Tour is a VIP cabin bus, not a traditional sleeper bus — though many travelers Google “g8 sleeper bus” out of habit. The fleet has 22-24 private cabins (11-12 single, 11-12 double), each 90×180cm with pull curtains, integrated massage seat, USB outlet and reading light. You lie flat for the full 6-7 hour Hanoi → Sapa run with privacy that ordinary open-berth sleeper buses don’t offer. Pricing starts from $19.5 single cabin — sits in the mid-tier of Sapa Nomad’s lineup, between economy sleepers and premium operators.
Same 90×180cm footprint, different layouts. Single cabin (11-12 units, from $19.5) is solo — 1 person, 1 curtain, 1 massage seat — best for solo travelers who want full privacy. Double cabin (11-12 units, ~$5-8/person more than single) sleeps 2 side-by-side — same dimensions but configured for couples or friends sharing. Both cabin types share the same bus, same departure time, same pickup point — the only choice is layout. When booking via Sapa Nomad, select “single” or “double” at checkout. Double cabin is the most-searched G8 variant on Google, so book early — they sell out fastest on weekend departures.
Hanoi Old Quarter office: Số 1 Lê Lai, Hoàn Kiếm — 5-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, the main check-in counter for booking support and luggage drop. Hanoi pickup point: 160 Trần Quang Khải, Lý Thái Tổ, Hoàn Kiếm — where the cabin bus actually boards (the office and the boarding point are different addresses, both inside the Old Quarter perimeter). Sapa office: 01A Nguyễn Đăng Khuê in central Sapa town. Noi Bai Airport pickup is direct — the G8 bus picks you up at Domestic terminal Column 9 (2nd floor) or International terminal Column 1 (1st floor) without a separate minivan transfer. Free hotel pickup is available within Hanoi Old Quarter for groups of 3+ (book 4 hours before departure); solo travelers and pairs go to the 160 Trần Quang Khải boarding point or arrange a taxi via Sapa Nomad support.
G8 operates 10+ daily departures per direction (about 20+ combined Hanoi ↔ Sapa), generally spaced through the day from 06:30 to 23:30. Most popular slots: morning 06:30/07:00/08:00 for business travelers, late night 21:30/22:00/22:30 for overnight sleep-and-arrive trips. Booking through Sapa Nomad gives instant confirmation — you receive booking code, pickup time, cabin number within minutes (not the next-business-day delay some operators have). If you have a cabin preference (front cabins ride smoother, back cabins quieter), Sapa Nomad can request it subject to availability — message us at booking time.
No toilet onboard — this is intentional design across G8’s cabin fleet, same as HK Open Tour. The bus stops twice on the 320km route, each break ~10-15 minutes for restroom and refreshment. Stops are spaced under 2.5 hours apart, comfortable for most adults. Massage seat is built into every cabin — no VIP upgrade fee. Four intensity levels (off/light/medium/strong) on the side panel. Each cabin also has USB charger, reading light, storage pouch, complimentary water bottle, and wet towel. WiFi is offered but signal is unstable in mountainous sections after Yen Bai — download offline content beforehand.
Honestly, G8 and HK Open Tour are very close on most strengths — both have Old Quarter offices (G8 at Số 1 Lê Lai, HK at 70 Nguyễn Hữu Huân), both offer 90×180cm double cabins for couples, both serve the same 6-7 hour route Hanoi ↔ Sapa with similar pricing. Sao Viet also has a Hanoi Old Quarter office (16 Trần Nhật Duật) alongside its main 789 Giải Phóng location, so location convenience is competitive across the three operators. Travelers tend to choose G8 for the boarding point at 160 Trần Quang Khải plus the central Số 1 Lê Lai check-in, and for the free Old Quarter group pickup (3+ pax). HK has near-identical strengths so the choice often comes down to schedule fit on your travel date. Sao Viet remains popular for solo budget travelers preferring a single cabin layout. Sapa Nomad books all three — message us your travel date and we’ll suggest the best fit by availability.
Yes — G8 runs both directions with the same 20+ daily combined schedule (10+ per direction). Book the round trip via Sapa Nomad for a small ~5-8% combo discount. Return pickup is at the Sapa office (01A Nguyễn Đăng Khuê) or designated central Sapa points. Change and cancellation policy follows the same standard as Sao Viet and HK Open Tour: notify at least 4 hours before departure for free reschedule; under 4 hours depends on availability and may incur a fee; full refund if cancelled more than 24 hours before departure. Children 0-4 ride free sharing parent’s cabin; 5+ pays adult price. Luggage: 25kg checked + 5kg cabin handbag included. Reach Sapa Nomad on WhatsApp for last-minute changes.

We are using the services of Sapa Nomad for the trip to Sapa for 2nd year in a row. The booking was seamless and updates were top notch. Special mention to Ms. Ha who coordinated the booking and ensured I was reminded of the timing and be ready for the trip. Worth booking through for we coming back for second time in a row says it all

Taking the sleeper bus to Sapa from Hanoi and vice versa is really convenient. Ms. Ha of Sapa Nomad is very helpful and thoughtful. She’s checking with us every now and then keeping us updated and informed. I’ll use Sapa Nomad again for sure when we come back to Vietnam next year.

Special thanks to Ms. Ha for her amazing help, she assisted us with rescheduling our tickets several times to match our travel plans, and was always responsive and kind.

  7. Matthew Vandenberg (verified owner)

I booked the G8 Cabin Bus from Hanoi to Sapa return. It was very comfortable and a pleasant experience. It would have been nice if there were restrooms on the bus, but perhaps buses in Vietnam don’t have these. Luckily there are 2 rest stops en route. I especially liked that I was offered an earlier return trip since there were extra spots available on the bus.

  8. jacobsie robert

Sapa Nomad was very professional and helpful. Especially Ms Thao, helped us a lot and answered immediately all of our questions.
They send every useful info about our trip, the exact meeting point and they left us out of our hotel.
    Highly recommend it!

  9. Z Z

We booked a double cabin and the only difference between the single and double cabin is that they provide two pillows instead of one: there is no difference in cabin size. The bus itself is relatively nice but the checkin process is not smooth, it appeared many people also had issues at checkin. When we questioned our booking they were very sarcastic and rude. I would recommend you book the single cabin if booking with this company… not a satisfied customer.

  10. Patricia L. D. (verified owner)

We booked a double-cabin sleeper bus with Sapa Nomad. It was so easy and they’re very reliable. We had last minute adjustments in our schedule and they helped us sort our our bus schedule and pick-up points easily. This is such a great help to people traveling to Sapa — one less thing to worry about. Overall, such a great experience! :)

On 16th Aug 2024, I used Sapa Nomad’s bus service to travel from Hanoi to Sapa, and it was a fantastic experience for both me and my family. What stood out the most was their excellent customer service. From the moment I booked the tickets, they maintained regular communication, ensuring I was informed about every aspect of the journey. As it was our first time visiting Vietnam, their attentiveness and detailed updates were incredibly reassuring. Their commitment to making our trip smooth and stress-free was evident, I highly recommend their service, especially for first-time travelers.

  13. Gavinpall S

We took the sapa nomad sleeper bus from Hanoi to Sapa and it was a great experience.
    The staff are very approachable.
They provide water as well to and fro.
On the way back from Sapa to Hanoi, my pillow was slightly dirty and i asked the staff to change it and they changed to a clean pillowcase which was great.
Need to take note of the bus which is “G8 tour” and not “Sapa Nomad” but you can book via “Sapa Nomad” website for the sleeper bus.
Upper deck cabin is for 1 person and you need to climb, won’t be suitable for persons with mobility issues. lower deck is for 2 persons.
There’s 2 toilet stops. Roughly about 6 hour journey including stops.
    Overall great experience.
