Overview

Laman Express runs refurbished tourist carriages on night trains SP3 and SP4 between Hanoi and Lao Cai (Sapa) — SP3 leaves Hanoi at 22:00 and arrives at 05:55, SP4 returns from Lao Cai at 21:30. The carriages are renovated on an annual basis, in a mix of modern and traditional Vietnamese styles.

Cabins come in two classes for this route: shared Deluxe with 4 berths (two lower, two upper — 70×185cm) and private VIP for two passengers, with the upper berths folded away. All cabins have free WiFi, air-conditioning and soft berths, and every passenger gets a welcome letter with mineral water, coffee, tea, cookies and fresh fruit — VIP cabins add soft drinks and beer. We confirm every booking directly with the operator and send your e-ticket by email.

A Deluxe berth is $48; the private VIP twin is $180 a cabin — $90 a person.

Solo or on a budget, take a Deluxe berth and share with up to three others. Couples: the VIP twin at $180 is $90 each, with the upper berths folded away for space. Family of four: book all four Deluxe berths and the cabin is yours for $192.

Schedule & Departures

Be at the station about 45 minutes early to collect tickets. From Lao Cai it is a 35 km road transfer to Sapa, about an hour — add it in the booking form or arrange your own.
