Overview
Most Sapa treks head south into Muong Hoa Valley. This one walks out the quieter north side of town: through the Hmong village of Suoi Ho, past the ruins of an early-1900s French church in Ma Tra, and into Ta Phin, where the Red Dao still mix their herbal baths the old way. You walk the full 12 km — a private car waits in Ta Phin to drive you back.
Tour Options: Private only — $49 solo, $38/person for 2–4, $28/person for 5–10, with your own guide. Local lunch, entrance fees and the car back to Sapa are included.

Yes. The trail is easy to moderate — 12 km on farm paths with gentle climbs, and your guide sets the pace. Most first-time trekkers finish comfortably.
Absolutely. We offer flexible scheduling for private tours.

Yes. We can adjust the route or pace to match your needs.
Ma Tra sees a fraction of Cat Cat’s visitors, and it holds one thing no other Sapa village has: the ruins of a French colonial church from the early 1900s. Add Hmong farmland and a near-empty trail, and it is the most distinctive stop on this route.
More quiet-side routes: our 1-Day Su Pan Trek plays the same trick on the south side of the valley. Reading up first? The Ta Phin village guide covers the cave, the monastery and the herbal baths. All routes: Sapa trekking tours.
