Sapa grills on roof tiles. A curved clay ngói heated over coals, pork belly sizzling on its back — that is the local barbecue trick. It is also why this list does not start where the old one did.
Barbecue is Sapa’s answer to its own weather — when the fog drops, the town lights charcoal. One name from the old list did not survive the July re-check, and one changed its name entirely; both stories are below.

The 9 BBQ Spots, Ranked
Ranked with the tile grills first — they are what you cannot get at home. Ratings are live Google numbers from this month.
1. Nướng Ngói Gia Bảo — the roof-tile grill
The town’s tile-grill headquarters: meat cooked on a heated clay roof tile at your table. Seventeen reviewers name the technique, and a fresh review three weeks ago calls it “a different and enjoyable concept”. Across 1.100+ reviews the average sits at an honest 4,4★ — portions and staff draw the praise, weekend waits draw the complaints. Best for: the barbecue you will describe to people back home. Skip if: you want speed on a Saturday night.
2. Misty Pub — formerly Soju BBQ
Old lists — ours included — call this Soju BBQ; Google now files it as Misty Pub, same address, same Korean grill. What survived the rename: marbled beef, gopchang, kimchi on every table, and a 4,8★ average across 2.700+ reviews. Open past midnight with the business updating its listing weekly. Best for: Korean barbecue and a soju night. Skip if: you expect unlimited-refill K-BBQ — this one is à la carte, and reviewers note it.
3. BBQ Trà Phương Quán — the late-night volume king
The volume king: 4,7★ across 1.300+ reviews, combo trays built for two, bamboo rice on the side. The kitchen grills long after most of the street has closed. A hundred thirty-four reviewers praise the staff by name. Google lists it as round-the-clock; in practice, treat it as a late-night door, not a 4 AM promise. Best for: the late barbecue after a long trek day. Skip if: you want quiet — it hums.
4. Chi Pau Buffet Hotpot & BBQ
The value pick, tucked upstairs in a Thác Bạc homestay: beef hotpot from 99.000 VND and barbecue sets that undercut the town center. The 4,9★ average is one the owner actively defends — the menu was updated as recently as July 11. Korean guests write love letters about the free kimchi. Best for: big appetites on small budgets. Skip if: you want a street-level storefront — look for the homestay sign and go up.
5. Đệ Nhất Nướng — the sturgeon grill
Quieter than Trà Phương and prouder of its fish: whole grilled sturgeon is the signature, alongside pork belly that Korean reviewers keep ordering twice. It also keeps late hours, at 4,7★ across 207 reviews. Best for: grilled cá tầm when dinner runs long.
Post-barbecue mornings start slow — these are the transfers our grill-night guests book for the day after:
6. Phố Mây BBQ
A women-owned kitchen on the walking-street alley doing the grill-plus-hotpot double: skewers over charcoal, sturgeon hotpot for the table, 4,6★ across 438 reviews. Central enough to stumble into, good enough to return to. Best for: barbecue without leaving the Cầu Mây stroll.
7. Andee Sapa Restaurant
The diplomatic choice: a women-owned 4,8★ kitchen where the barbecue set and a full vegan menu share one table. Fifty-five reviewers came for the hotpot; the rest came for the balance. The owner still thanks guests on Google monthly. Best for: mixed tables of grillers and vegetarians.
8. Phố Cổ Sapa Hotel — the Korean table
One address correction old lists still miss: Phố Cổ sits at 152 Thạch Sơn. Google files it under Korean cuisine for a reason — the grill menu leans K-style and Korean guests fill it nightly, at 4,7★ across 460 reviews. Best for: Korean-leaning barbecue without Misty Pub’s bar prices.
9. Fin House — the buffet grill
Honesty first: 4,3★ is the low score on this list. The draw is arithmetic — a 148.000 VND all-you-can-eat grill-and-hotpot buffet that one reviewer summarized as “too full, too generous.” Quality wobbles at rush hour; value never does. The full all-you-can-eat map is in our Sapa buffet guide. Best for: hungry groups counting đồng. Skip if: you are chasing the best meat — that is #1 and #2.
And for the guests who build the whole trip around eating — these are the other rides and trains they pair with grill nights:
Grilling in Sapa — Three Notes
Tile first, everything else second. The nướng ngói roof-tile grill is the local invention — try it once before defaulting to Korean-style tables.
Barbecue here is a night economy. The grills run late into the night — the reverse of the town’s dawn-economy phở shops. Plan your eating clock accordingly.
The street version costs a tenth. Market skewers at 10.000–30.000 VND cover the same craving on a walking night — our street food guide maps the stalls.
FAQs
What is tile barbecue (nướng ngói) in Sapa?
Meat grilled on a curved clay roof tile heated over coals — the tile spreads heat gently and drains fat into the groove. Nướng Ngói Gia Bảo is the town’s specialist.
How much does BBQ cost in Sapa?
Sit-down barbecue runs 150.000–400.000 VND ($6–16) per person; Chi Pau’s hotpot starts at 99.000 and Fin House’s buffet at 148.000. Street skewers cost 10.000–30.000 each.
Is there late-night BBQ in Sapa?
Yes — Misty Pub pours past midnight, and Trà Phương Quán and Đệ Nhất Nướng grill late into the evening. Some listings say 24 hours; in practice, do not count on the small hours — barbecue is Sapa’s night shift, not its all-nighter.
What happened to Soju BBQ?
It became Misty Pub — same 25 Xuân Viên address, same Korean grill, new name. The 4,8★ rating and 2.700+ reviews carried over with it.
The clay tile came off somebody’s roof a generation ago and never went back — that is Sapa barbecue in one image. Order the pork belly, watch the fat run the tile’s groove into the coals, and let the fog do what the fog does. Dinner here is the warmest place in town.
