Food & Wellness Specialist - The Taste Keeper

Thien Thao is Sapa Nomad's Food & Wellness specialist, covering restaurants, street food, cafes, spas, and markets across Sapa. Every place she writes about, she has visited in person — usually more than once.

About Thien

The first thing I check in any Sapa kitchen isn't the menu — it's the pot that has been simmering the longest, and the person tending it. Food in Sapa is never just food. Behind every bowl and every Red Dao herbal bath there is a maker, a family recipe, and a story — and I will always tell you their name.

I started at Sapa Nomad on the social media side, filming market stalls and tasting street food for our channels. I still spend part of my week at our Dien Bien Phu office helping guests plan their trips — so I know what travelers actually ask about food in Sapa: where to eat after a long trek, which spa is worth the price, what that smell drifting through the morning market is. My articles answer those questions the way I would across the front desk — honestly, and with directions.

My reviews follow one rule: if I haven't ordered it twice, I don't recommend it. Prices, opening hours, and "is it worth it" verdicts come from my own visits, and I update them when things change — because in Sapa, they change fast.
