Rooftop bars in Sapa: all six in one table
Six roofs made the cut. Village Pub moved to our cafe list, Sun World’s bar is a Fansipan stop, and AMG Lounge is a lounge with windows — not a rooftop.

When to go up: sunset hours by season
Sapa town sits against the east side of the Hoang Lien range, so the ridge takes the sun 20–30 minutes before the printed sunset time. Go up earlier than your weather app says.
- December–January: sunset ~5:20–5:40 PM — be on the roof by 4:45 PM
- February–April: ~6:00–6:30 PM — up by 5:30 PM
- May–August: ~6:40–6:55 PM — up by 6 PM
- September–November: ~5:45–6:15 PM — up by 5:15 PM

The fog rule: read this before you pay rooftop prices
Every roof on this list is a weather bet. Fog can erase the whole view in the time it takes to pour a gin and tonic.
The test is simple, and it works from anywhere in town: find the ridgeline before you commit to a lift. No mountains from the street means no mountains from five floors up.

The four rooftops in town
BB Sky Lounge — the first-night roof
Five floors up at 08 Cau May, directly over the square. The room is mostly glass, strung with warm lights, with bar stools facing the drop. The hotel below now trades as Hotel Sapa Square (Meliá); the lounge kept its name.
Open 3 PM to midnight. Live music runs Friday and Saturday nights — real energy, not background volume.

MK Rooftop — the valley sunset
The town roofs look at the town. MK looks at the valley. It sits on the roof of Pao’s Sapa Leisure Hotel on Muong Hoa Street, ten minutes’ walk from the centre.
A rail-side terrace runs the length of the drop. Open 10 AM to midnight, so a late-afternoon coffee can turn into sunset without moving seats — and the kitchen serves proper food.
Best for: the valley sunset itself. Watch out for: fog — this side of town whites out first.

Absinthe — the special-occasion roof
The roof of Hotel de la Coupole, ten floors up on Hoang Lien Street. An outdoor fire pit burns beside the terrace, and the hotel’s 1920s-Paris salon styling runs all the way to the top.
Open 11 AM to 11 PM, and — unusually for a five-star roof — open to non-guests. Two honest notes: it is the most expensive pour in town, and no children after 6 PM.
Best for: anniversaries, proposals, one very good cocktail by the fire. Watch out for: the bill.

Skyline Bar — the cheap seats
Fifth floor of the Hotpot building at 71 Xuan Vien, near the lake end of town. It is the least polished roof on this list, and the cheapest cocktail on it.
Music some nights, town lights every night. Opening hours run on bar time: Google lists it open 24 hours, which in practice means it is the last roof in town to close. Read that as “very late”, not literal — evenings are always safe.
Best for: a late, cheap nightcap with the town lights on. Watch out for: polish — this is a simple roof, not a lounge.

Two more roofs, with honest caveats
Topas Sky Bar — for resort guests
A round, thatch-roofed bar on a hilltop 18 km southeast of town, roughly 45 minutes by car. Its 360° sweep over terraced valleys is the best view in this guide.
The caveat is firm: the lodge runs it for staying guests. Do not taxi out hoping for a walk-in drink — this one you book a room for.
Sapa Sky View — the dinner roof
Seventh floor of the Chau Long Hotel on Dong Loi Street, and more restaurant than bar. The dining room frames the mountains through a round brick window; the terrace looks down Muong Hoa toward Fansipan.
Open 6 AM to 10 PM. Come for an early dinner, stay for dusk — it closes before the late crowd.
