Overview
The Family Express Train is a popular train service that operates between Hanoi and Sapa, a mountainous town in northern Vietnam. The train is designed to provide a comfortable and convenient mode of transportation for families traveling together.
The train departs from Hanoi in the evening and arrives in Lao Cai, the nearest city to Sapa, early in the morning. From there, passengers can take a shuttle bus or taxi to Sapa, which is about 35 km away.

Way from Hanoi Station to Lao Cai Station (22:00 – 06:05)
- 21:00: Arrived at Hanoi Train Station for check-in procedure. Your online ticket would be exchanged for paper tickets at this point
- 22:00: Departed to Lao Cai Train Station
- 06:05: Arrived at Lao Cai Train Station
- 08:15: Arrived at Sapa for people who book the Transfer to Sapa from Lao Cai Train Station.
Lao Cai Station to Hanoi Station (21:30 – 05:35)
- 18:00: Start at Sapa Town for people who book the Transfer to Lao Cai Train Station from Sapa.
- 20:40: Arrived at Lao Cai Train Station for check-in procedure. Your online ticket would be exchanged for paper tickets at this point
- 21:30: Departed to Hanoi Train Station
- 05:30: Arrived at Hanoi Train Station

The family express train’s cabin provide a welcome snacks, fruits,mineral water and toothbrushes set, train cabin is very clean and cosy, my family got a dedicated room, we really enjoyed the ride.
