The neon promises pizza, pasta and steak, but the reviews crown the hamburger — it sits on the menu’s popular list, and the burger crowd lands here first. A 4,7★ room of 835 reviews on Mường Hoa with an owner who answers feedback within days. 3. Saparis — steak, then cocktails

A women-owned kitchen at 38 Ngõ Cầu Mây whose sign hedges — “Vietnamese & European foods” — and whose sirloin steak keeps showing up in review photos anyway. 4,7★ across 627 reviews, open to 11:30 PM, which makes it the late-dinner answer on the walking alley. Best for: steak after the crowds thin out.
5. Le Gecko — the French house
Honesty first: 4,3★ is the modest score on this list. What it buys is pedigree — Sapa’s long-running French house at 03 Suối Hồ, 1.211 reviews deep. Its sister café on Ngũ Chỉ Sơn holds 4,6★ over 3.000 reviews for coffee and cake. Come for duck, crepes and a wine list, not for speed. Best for: the French dinner Sapa’s colonial bones remember.
✅ Worth it: Le Petit Gecko for volume-proven everything. The Old Town for the burger. Saparis when dinner should become an evening. Chapa Hills when dinner starts late.
❌ Cut from this list: Halosa is temporarily closed as of July 2026 — we liked it, and we will re-check. Ladybird’s ground-floor café is real, but its listing has become a 3-star hotel and the fresh signals are all about rooms — hotel dining is not this list’s job. Bb Sky Lounge, the rooftop above BB Hotel, falls to the same rule. Fansipan Restaurant’s 87 reviews are not enough either.
